While the next two books in the trilogy don't quite compare to Bluebird, Bluebird, Attica Locke does wrap things up for Darren Matthews and his mom in dramatic fashion-- lots of family secrets (and a bit too much family history for my taste) and much conflict over race and crime in East Texas (and even a fair perspective from the POV of a Black Trump supporter) make all three of these three books compelling reads.
