While America's "A Horse With No Name" is one of the sillier songs to survive the early 70s, I must concur, now that the weather has shifted here-- and this is something I always forget-- that "the heat was hot."
I remember you used to also mock the lyrics "There were plants and birds and rocks and things," specifically the usage of "things" as a highly non-descriptive (dumb) word to use when detailing a setting. But it rhymes with "rings," so there it was.

and i guess if your brain is scrambled from the desert heat, you might have trouble with specificity.
