Gust Avrakotos' War?
Despite Tom Hanks (who is a tool, and always plays himself) and Julia Roberts (who is weird looking and affected and always plays herself), Charlie Wilson's War is a good movie . . . fast-paced, well-told, and entertaining: a cross between Charlie's Angels and Syriana; typically, Philip Seymour Hoffman steals the show, but the original and more appropriate title-- Gust Avrakotos' War -- doesn't roll off the tongue very well.

what's the born-on date for this sentence? it could have been written any time in the last year and flash-frozen for future use.
the odd thing is-- there was kind of conspiracy, everyone saw this movie in th english dept. except me-- but NO ONE TOLD ME because they knew i hated tom hanks and julia roberts, and so didn't want to suffer my vitriol, so i really did just watch it.
you may well be the only person in america that hates tom hanks. kudos to you.
he's just very boring to look at-- he always looks like tom hanks and talks like tom hanks and i always know he's acting-- not like daniel day lewis or ed norton or christian bale-- those guys-- THEY don't even know they're acting . . .
Castaway wasn't bad, but for the most part, Dave is right. And Julia Roberts looks like her brother Eric with a wig.
i don't disagree with dave, just wonder how it got to the level of hatred. he's just...there. how do you hate that guy? he was kip, for chrissakes.
i don't hate him-- i hate his acting. he's probably a great guy to hang out with, unlike somebody like marlon brando . . .
There are 300 known actors who fit the description of Tom Hanks for every Daniel Day Lewis out there. Harrison Ford, Will Smith, Matt Damon, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, and a thousand more get rich and entertain by being themselves. You're not wrong -- it's the guys you mentioned and others (even Jim Carrey) who impress the most with range and daring. It's just that if you "hate" the job Tom Hanks does, you probably hate 97% of Hollywood acting. Makes me think you should stop watching movies made for more than a few million bucks.
