My new episode of We Defy Augury-- "Bungle in the Jungle, Salt Life at the Beach"-- is (loosely) inspired by the Charles Portis novel Gringos and my time living in Ocean Grove . . . and I sincerely appreciate all my listeners, and trust me, you will receive a very special prize if you make it all the way through.
“anyway, fuck them” is my new favorite augury quote. come for professor truck’s place-based musings, stay for his f-bomb laden social commentary.
ReplyDeleteExciting teaser!
ReplyDeletethose houses are absurd . . .
ReplyDeleteBuilding on your Jerzy shore "lean on it like it owes you money" line, I took zfamily to the water park at Seaside Heights and while we were getting a locker a gentleman in his mid-30s with a tattoo in the shape of NJ colored red white and green covering his entire upper left arm (which was completely unshod, suns out guns out and all that) remarked "Oh! Twennee five dolliz fer a fuggin locka?!" And I said "Deez are fuggin cocaine prysiz!" And he loved it. Then he went off on a diatribe about how he needs to keep his shit safe because his father in law's car was broken into last weekend and I said "Down here?" and he said "No in Philly" and I said "No offenz if yer from Philly, but dat's what yoo get when you're in Philly" and he loved that too. Great bonding over cocaine and Philly hate.
