I am sorry to say, but nobody learned nothin' at yesterday's tennis practice-- aside from the fact that you can't really play tennis when there are 30 mph wind gusts . . . although we tried our best and one group even played an entire set of doubles-- but it was ugly, very ugly . . . the wind is a bitch.
I feel your pain. We played our home matches on public courts in a recessed bowl in the middle of a park so we often had swirling winds like Giants Stadium. There were also train tracks at the other end of the park so we had to deal with that distraction not unlike the Hackensack Bulls. So sometimes you might hit a first serve as hard as you could only to have the wind turn it into a creampuff or blow it onto the next court, or have a train whistle go off in the middle of your motion and screw up your timing, or all of the above.
ReplyDeletethat's amazing-- especially the added insult of the train whistle. you can't shush a train!
