The Hold Steady Holds Steady
I like The Hold Steady and I hope you like The Hold Steady, but their new album Teeth Dreams sounds like one giant super-long Hold Steady song . . . can a band sound too much like itself?
DP - I'm thinking about seeing them at the Stone Pony (outdoor stage) on June 27, let me know if you're interested. w/ Drive by Truckers. I'm not 100%, headed to outer banks that weekend but if there is interest I can do a hungover car ride the next day for 8 hrs with three kids in the name of rock

Craig Finn, the Hold Steady's lead singer, looks and acts like Bryan Spurrier. He doesn't sound like him.
that's what's weird -- the sound coming out of his mouth sounds nothing like the way he looks.

Leck, let's keep talking -- might be able to pull that off. Saw the same two bands co-headline in Raleigh 5 years ago. Fantastic.
I caught that tour in Boston. DBT's album at the time was Brighter Than Creation's Dark, which means they kicked ass.
Love the band! Glad you do too! They make me feel young and stupid!
