I have
praised the laconic anti-wit of Yogi Berra, and I even tried to
invent my own Yogi Berra-esque adage-- and I learned that it's not the kind of thing you can consciously create-- but once in a while someone says something so perfectly true and paradoxical, that you know Yogi is smiling in his grave . . . and so when my colleague Katie attempted to describe an extremely inappropriately dressed high school girl, she got so worked up about the sleaziness of the student's outfit that she passionately told us: "If you saw her, you'd know what she looks like!"
Dave, I totally appreciate the shout-out, but there is one small problem... Yogi is still alive :) don't put him in the ground just yet.
ReplyDeletei prefer to believe that the yogi smiling in his grave bit is a non-intentional yogiism from dave.
ReplyDeleteoops. sorry yogi.
ReplyDeleteDave and Rob - from yesterday - Petrozza...
ReplyDeleteLouis Petrozza. 20 years ago, when you guys were living in a glorified outhouse in the Outer Banks, he owned and operated Petrozza. Later, he opened Lou's Deli. I think Lou's closed a few years back; either way, Lou is gone.
He moved to Charlotte several years ago. He then was a finalist on the show "Hell's Kitchen."
After that, he moved to Myrtle Beach. Earlier this year, he opened a high-end steakhouse there called 21 Main. It's a far cry from the old sandwich shop, but most of us are a far cry from where we were in 1991.
Looks to me like 21 Main is close to the Swing Bridge Saloon. next time you're in Myrtle, Rob, you should go in for a drink at his new joint.
ReplyDeletewow, it's about 5 miles down the road. wonder if lou still has any of the bread from petrozza.
ReplyDelete21 main does NOT have a menu similar to petrozza.
