7/21/10 A Poll About Coffee
My wife wants me to poll ten people and see if they know that Taster's Choice is instant coffee . . . I did NOT know this and the other morning I thought we were out of coffee (we weren't, I just couldn't see it in the fridge) an so I rummaged around and found a canister of Taster's Choice and so I put it into the coffee maker, though the consistency was a little weird, and it made some very very strong coffee and it also formed a thick sludge in the filter and machine . . . a sludge that I imagine is similar to what the shrimp are eating right now in the Gulf . . . and Catherine thinks I should have known that Taster's Choice is instant coffee, which is coffee that disintegrates right into your cup, but I don't watch TV and I've never made instant coffee before and I'm not so sure that everyone in America knows what this stuff is, as my wife claims . . . so any information on the public knowledge of this product is greatly appreciated.
Being a new coffee drinker, I hate to tell Catherine, I didn't know it was instant coffee either. But, there must have been some sign that it was different than regular coffee before the sludge stage. So Dave, it's your fault! Also, I don't want Catherine mad at me too.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for not knowing that it was instant, but did you look at that shit when you put it in the coffee maker? It looks nothing like coffee grounds. That is when you should have known. However, the real blame lies with your wife... who the fuck buys instant coffee anymore?
ReplyDeletethe 'instant coffee' on the label might serve as a clue, but if you're anything like me, you can't read until you have at least one cup of coffee. but i do know that taster's choice is instant.
ReplyDeleteokay-- this is two to one in my favor . . . and yes marls, you're right, in RETROSPECT it was weird that the stuff in the canister was forzen into a giant mass that i had to chip apart, but it didn't occur to me while i was doing it.
ReplyDeleteI knew. We always have some instant in the house as a backup in case we run out of filters or coffee.
ReplyDeleteor intelligence.
ReplyDeleteI knew it was instant, but only because I didn't know there was any type of coffee other than instant until I went to college. My mother still buys, and religiously drinks, instant coffee.
ReplyDeletethere's the exception that proves something.
ReplyDeleteYou've never watched television? Not even as a youth? Because those Taster Choice commercials have been running for decades. I'm with Cat on this one.
ReplyDeleteI knew. And I don't even drink coffee. Sanka is also instant, I believe. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteSo far I'm winning 5 to 2.
