Some Cars
More Malcolm Gladwell tidbits from What the Dog Saw: in most cities, five percent of the cars produce 55% of the carbon monoxide pollution; most cars, especially newer models, run quite clean, but "kit" cars, older cars, and dirty engines can produce carbon monoxide emissions which are one to two HUNDRED times more than standard-- so the pollution problem isn't so much about everyone driving, it's about a small group of people driving a small group of annoyingly filthy cars.

By "kit cars" do you mean proper build-it-yourself-from-a-kit-that-arrives-in-the-mail kit cars, or slammed Honda Civics a la "The Fast and the Furious"?
i don't know. i'm not a car guy. i'm not a man:)
i've never even seen the "fast and the furious." it's sad.
i was actually going to ask what a kit car was - then i saw the comments... few that frequent this site would be surprised that i am not a man, either...
i do know what a KITT car is! night ryder.
gladwell pisses me off
then you, sir, are my nemesis.
i don't think so. he pisses me off because he's so much damn smarter than i am. or at least better at articulating an argument.
I asked about kit cars because I'm surprised that enough people drive home-built cars to have a noticeable impact on the environment. They must have filthy emissions.
I saw Malcolm Gladwell walking down the street last week. His hair is fantastic. I hate him for that alone.
